MetBoost

The science

The science of making every step work harder.

Walking mainly works the lower body. Actively pushing against resistance with the arms at the same time adds muscular work to the walk. MetBoost is designed to combine the two.

Walking

A natural, low-impact movement driven mostly by the legs and hips.

+ Resistance

Alternating forward pushes against the lower bands bring the arms, shoulders, chest and core into the work.

= One workout

Instead of separate cardio and strength sessions, both happen in the same walk.

The hypothesis

The MetBoost metabolic advantage.

The development team is evaluating whether walking while actively pushing against resistance can produce substantially greater calorie expenditure than ordinary walking at the same speed and duration.

MetBoost is engineered to help you burn more calories while you walk. How much more is the question the testing program is designed to answer, and no figure will be published until results and methodology have been reviewed.

Testing program

How the claim will be tested.

A planned protocol. It will be finalized, run and documented before any performance figure appears on this site.

  1. Step 1

    Ordinary walking baseline

Energy expenditure measured during normal walking.

  2. Step 2

    Walking with MetBoost

The same walk, performing the alternating forward push.

  3. Step 3

    Matched speed and duration

Identical pace, distance and time in both conditions.

  4. Step 4

    Energy expenditure measurement

Method and equipment to be specified in the published methodology.

  5. Step 5

    Intensity and resistance levels

Results reported for each band resistance tested.

  6. Step 6

    Results and methodology

Published together, including participants, conditions and limitations.
